Clamshell Lighting Setup With One Light Stand. Whether you use only natural light, one strobe or more, there is always one constant; beautiful photography is about blending emotions with beautiful light. In the quest of our perfect shot, we should not forget about simplicity in the tools that we use to create our work. If you can master one light, adding five or more becomes intuitive.
When I first started I did the opposite. To me, more gear meant a greater chance of achieving excellent work. We all know today that it ain’t true. So learning to break down your lighting to the minimal, can actually help you improve your photography.
Yesterday I challenged myself to come up with a killer setup that would be simple yet effective. Thanks to the Manfrotto Super Clamp, I was able to modify a light stand to support two Speedlites.
Sometimes all it takes is some time out to think to find that one piece of gear, that makes all the difference in the world. In my case, the Super Clamp.
Here is a behind the scenes video of the complete setup and a few resulting images of my daughter. Hope you’ll enjoy, happy shooting.
